Relax

When the body and mind are relaxed, it is easier to deal with stress, a possible trigger of depression. Finding ways to relax shouldn't cause more stress. Luckily, there are many paths to relaxation and stress relief.

Relaxation through meditation, for example, involves calming and focusing the mind. Meditation may also help you achieve some control over where your thoughts take you. Meditation centers are popping-up all over - there might be one in your neighborhood. However, if there are no centers for meditation near you, go to a quiet room and try out some simple meditative exercises.

Attending a yoga class is another avenue to relaxation and stress relief. Yoga's benefits span the body-mind connection, helping you to reach a peaceful and calm state of being. Yoga gives you more energy, improved concentration, toned and strengthened muscles, improved posture, and possible weight loss. Try a yoga video or thumb through a book of yoga poses to get an idea of what you might experience in a class.

Relaxation can also happen at unexpected moments. Notice the way you can take solace in helping someone who needs it or how really good it feels to give yourself the gift of a good deep breath between meetings at work.
